RUSSIA – “The guard of Russian «Spartak» got the title of VTB United League MVP champion according to October results.

In five October matches of VTB United League a 23-year-old American guard of «Spartak» Patrick Beverley on the average spent 32 minutes on the court, gaining 17.6 points, making 5.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 2.4 steals. On October, 10 Beverley became the main hero of ST. Petersburg team in the victory over CSKA – 83:81 playing better than Andrei Kirilenko!

I am very pleased to get the title of MVP of the month. At such moments, you realize that you are on the right way and progressing. But I would not get this title without the help of my partners. «Spartak» has a great team composition and a great coach – this is the secret of permanent victories (including the European Cup qualification «Spartak» won 7 games out of 7 in season-2011/12 – approx.) and the fact that every player shows his best basketball.

Owner of the title «Most Valuable Player» of the month is determined by VTB United League and «Sport-Express» newspaper this season. The selection of MVP and symbolic top five of the month is performed by using specially developed formula where the statistics of players is included (specifically- rating of performance) as well as the opinion of the League’s experts. As a result, Beverley scored a total of 9 points leaving behind in the top three pretenders for the MVP of October the center of Latvian VEF Courtney Sims (7 points) and forward of «Asseco Prokom» Alonzo Gee (4 points).”
