Real was cautious and determined with Doncic, gradually giving him more and more playing time until he made his EuroLeague debut at age 16 in October of 2015. A few months earlier, he led Real to the Euroleague Basketball Adidas Next Generation Tournament title. As a regular after that, he was voted by EuroLeague head coaches as the Rising Star trophy each of the next two. After helping Slovenia win its first EuroBasket title in the 2017 offseason, Doncic returned to Real and immediately delivered, earning October MVP honors. But the best was yet to come.

In leading Real to the 2018 Final Four, Doncic became the youngest player ever voted as the EuroLeague MVP for the season. At the Final Four in Belgrade, he dominated both games and was chosen the Final Four MVP, too, as Real defeated defending champion Fenerbahce Istanbul to lift its 10th EuroLeague trophy.
